Biography
Ben Keathley is a Republican state representative serving Missouri's 101st District, which covers most of Chesterfield in St. Louis County. A lawyer by profession, he was first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in November 2022 and took office on January 4, 2023. Prior to this, he served two terms on the Chesterfield City Council starting in 2017, including two terms as chair of the Public Health and Safety Committee, where he supported police body cameras, opposed the St. Louis City-County merger, and resisted special taxing districts like tax increment financing.
Notable achievements include sponsoring the original Senior Property Tax Freeze bill in 2023, leading its expansion signed by Governor Parson in 2024; co-sponsoring bills to exempt Social Security and private pensions from state income tax; advancing school choice and the largest teacher pay raise in state history; blocking franchise taxes on streaming services; promoting prosecutor accountability and an independent board for St. Louis metro police; and reducing sales taxes on groceries. In 2025, he introduced a bill for a Missouri "Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Fund" and co-sponsored legislation voiding certain non-discrimination ordinances for Section 8 tenants. He currently serves as vice chairman of the Utilities Committee and holds positions on Professional Registration and Licensing, Healthcare Reform, Special Interim Committee on the Earnings Tax, and Subcommittee on Appropriations – General Administration, among others like Joint Committee on Administrative Rules and House Committee on General Laws.
