Biography

Ben Allen is a Democratic California State Senator representing District 24, which covers the Westside, Hollywood, South Bay, and Santa Monica Mountains communities of Los Angeles County, including areas like Santa Monica and El Segundo. Born on March 13, 1978, he was first elected in 2014 to the then-26th District, reelected in 2018, and now serves his third term, set to end on December 1, 2026. Notable achievements include authoring the Voter's Choice Act of 2016, which expanded voting access and boosted turnout; leading environmental protections like SB 54 on plastic pollution, phasing out carcinogenic firefighting foam, and advancing climate goals such as carbon neutrality by 2045; championing arts education and the California Film Commission; and co-authoring legislation to increase school vaccination rates. He has been recognized as a top leader in environmental protection and clean money reform.
