Biography

Barry Jozwiak

Barry J. Jozwiak was born on December 21, 1945, in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England, and grew up in West Reading, Pennsylvania. He is a Republican who represented the 5th Legislative District of Pennsylvania's House of Representatives, serving parts of Berks County.

Before his service in the state legislature, Jozwiak had an extensive background in law enforcement and public service. He served 25 years with the Pennsylvania State Police as a trooper and subsequently served 12 years as Sheriff of Berks County. He is also a U.S. Navy veteran and previously served as a supervisor in Bern Township. Additionally, he served as past president of the Pennsylvania Sheriffs' Association.

Jozwiak announced his retirement from the House of Representatives in January 2024, with his tenure ending in December of that year.

Education

Jozwiak graduated from West Reading High School in 1963. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement and Corrections from Pennsylvania State University in University Park in 1978.

Political Experience

In the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Jozwiak served as the Republican chairman of the House Children and Youth Committee. Throughout his legislative career, he authored and sponsored legislation focused on improving constituents' lives and worked to secure millions of dollars in infrastructure funding for townships and boroughs in his district.

Jozwiak is a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and has been a strong advocate for family farms and agriculture's role in Pennsylvania's economy.
