Biography
Barrie S. Ciliberti
Barrie S. Ciliberti was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 27, 1936. A Republican member of the Maryland House of Delegates, he represents District 4, which includes Frederick County. He is married and has five children.
Beyond his legislative work, Ciliberti has maintained a lengthy academic career as an associate professor at Bowie State University since 1965 and as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland University College. He previously owned the Reston Town and Country School in Reston, Virginia. Ciliberti has also served as a guest lecturer in Asia and Europe for the U.S. Information Agency and held the position of special assistant for ethnic affairs for the Republican National Committee.
Education
Ciliberti earned his educational credentials from several prestigious institutions:
- B.A. in History from Ursinus College
- M.A. in History from Georgetown University
- Ph.D. in Administration from Catholic University
He attended Friends Select School in Philadelphia for his secondary education.
Political Experience
Ciliberti's legislative career spans two distinct periods:
- 1995–1999: Served as a member of the House of Delegates representing District 39
- 2015–Present: Appointed to the House of Delegates on February 4, 2015, and elected in November 2018
His committee assignments include the Environment and Transportation Committee, where he serves on the Land Use and Ethics Subcommittee and the Housing and Real Property Subcommittee. He has also served as Chair of the Frederick County House Delegation since 2022. Previous committee service included the Appropriations Committee and Environmental Matters Committee.
In 2016 and 2024, Ciliberti served as an elected delegate to the Republican Party National Convention . He has been a member of the Frederick County Republican Central Committee since 2018 and the Maryland Veterans Caucus.
