Barbara Gervin-Hawkins is a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 120 in San Antonio, which includes parts of Bexar County such as San Antonio, Converse, Windcrest, and Kirby. Born April 3, 1954, in Michigan, she was raised by a single mother and later moved to San Antonio after her brother, NBA player George Gervin, hired her as his accountant. She is a co-founder of the George Gervin Youth Center and George Gervin Academy, a public charter school serving about 1,200 students; as superintendent, she helped over 1,800 high school dropouts earn diplomas. A business owner and educator, she has developed over 322 affordable housing units, completed $93 million in construction projects, and generated a $15 million annual budget for vulnerable populations. Notable achievements include induction into the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame, "Freshman of the Year" by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus , and service as Chair of the State of Texas Tourism Caucus and Chair of the Texas Legislative Black Caucus. She currently serves on the Appropriations, Ways & Means, and Redistricting Committees, plus the Appropriations Articles I, IV, and V Subcommittee.

• Education: B.A. in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University ; M.A. in Education from Our Lady of the Lake University; attended Leadership Studies at Our Lady of the Lake University.
• Political Experience: Elected to Texas House District 120 in 2016, defeating incumbent Laura Thompson; reelected since, including 2022 and 2024. Previously served as Zoning Commissioner for San Antonio District 2; board member for Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International, Ella Austin Community Center, and Casey Family Program for homeless youth.
