Barbara Jarrett Drummond is a Democratic member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 103 since 2014. A Mobile native, she has focused on education, community restoration, and senior services, serving as co-chair and chair of the Alabama House Democratic Caucus. Notable achievements include being named 2015 Legislator of the Year by the Alabama Democratic Caucus, passing laws for Mobile neighborhood restoration, and advancing to the 2025 Mobile mayoral runoff .

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Graduated from Murphy High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of South Alabama; completed Leadership Mobile, Leadership Alabama, and the Center for the Advancement of Leadership Skills with the Southern Legislative Conference.
• Early Career: Worked 21 years as a reporter for the Mobile Press-Register , covering politics and judiciary; owned B-Inspired Marketing and Consulting Inc.; served eight years as Executive Director of Administrative Services and Community Affairs for the City of Mobile ; and as Public Affairs and Community Services Director for Mobile County.
• Political Experience: Elected in 2014 to the open 103rd District seat, defeating opponents in the primary and general ; re-elected unopposed in 2018 and 2022. Serves on House Ways and Means Education Budget Committee, Legislative Educational Policy Committee, Children and Senior Services, and others; advocates for education funding and community beautification.
