Biography

August Pfluger is a Republican U.S. Representative for Texas's 11th Congressional District, which spans 20 counties in West Texas, including San Angelo, Midland, Odessa, Brownwood, Killeen, and Llano. A seventh-generation Texan born on December 28, 1977, in Harris County, he grew up in San Angelo, attended Central High School as a quarterback and Eagle Scout, and now lives there with his wife Camille and three daughters. Notable achievements include serving as Chairman of the Republican Study Committee , Chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, and member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He co-founded the MACH 1 Caucus and Texas Ag Task Force, secured $13 billion in border reimbursements for states like Texas, and was elected in 2025 to chair the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors. Pfluger is recognized for prolific legislation, winning the 2025 Congressional Management Foundation Democracy Award for constituent services, and advocating for American energy, agriculture, and national security. After 26 years in uniform, he retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Air Force on February 1, 2026.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in political science from the U.S. Air Force Academy ; Master of Science in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; Master of Science in military and operations science from Air University; Master of Science in international business and policy from Georgetown University.
  • Political and Military Experience: Commissioned in the U.S. Air Force in 2000, he flew F-15C Eagle, F-22A Raptor, and T-38 Talon aircraft, logging 2,000 flight hours including 300+ combat hours against ISIS in Syria/Iraq, deterring Russia in Europe, and in the Pacific against China. He commanded the 380th Expeditionary Operations Group at Al Dhafra Air Base, served as a senior advisor to the USAF Secretary and Chief of Staff, NSC Director for Defense Policy and Strategy, NATO strategic planner, and National Defense Fellow at the Washington Institute. Elected to Congress in 2020, he began his third term in January 2025.
