Biography
Ashley Carrick is a Democratic member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing District 35 . A fourth-generation lifelong Alaskan born in Anchorage, she assumed office in 2023 and won re-election in 2024 with 55.2% of the vote. She is the first openly bisexual member of the Alaska Legislature and one of its first openly LGBTQ members. Notable achievements include serving as Democratic Co-Chair of the Alaska chapter of the Future Caucus, Chair of the Alaska Legislature Interior Delegation , and selection for the 2024 Future Caucus Innovation Fellowship in the Criminal Justice cohort. Her policy priorities focus on fiscal sustainability, education funding, public health, workforce development, affordable energy, and Alaskan well-being.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks ; Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Alaska Anchorage .
- Political Experience: Worked six years as a legislative aide, including five years as Chief of Staff to State Representative Adam Wool; previously served on the FNSBSD Diversity Committee and FNSB Early Childhood Development Commission .
- Community Involvement: Vice President of Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival ; interests include hiking, local events, and volunteering.
