Biography
Senator Art Haywood ** represents Pennsylvania's **4th Senate District, which includes Northwest Philadelphia and Eastern Montgomery County, such as parts of Abington, Cheltenham, Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy, and Germantown. Born on January 28, 1957, he is an attorney and advocate for affordable housing, economic justice, and vulnerable populations. Notable achievements include securing $100 million annually for the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement fund, $14 million for health clinics, and up to $100 million to remove lead from school water; reforming guardianship laws; and authoring key reports like the State of Black Pennsylvania Report , ENOUGH Report on campus harassment , and Poverty Report. He received awards such as Legislator of the Year from the Life Sciences Caucus and The Arc of PA, Excellence Award from PHFA, and Economic Justice Award from the Philadelphia Unemployment Project.
