Biography
Arnold Mooney is a Republican representing Alabama House District 43 since his election in November 2014. A career commercial real estate professional and conservative businessman, he has served continuously, including reelection campaigns in 2022 and candidacy in the 2026 primary. Notable achievements include over 40 years in commercial real estate as an Associate Broker with Southeast Commercial Partners and Vice President at Colonial Properties Trust , earning the CCIM designation, Life Membership, and Vulcan Award from the Birmingham Association of Realtors; more than 30 years supporting small businesses and 15 years developing jobs programs via the Workforce Invest Board; and prior political roles such as Staff Assistant to U.S. Senator James B. Allen, Campaign Manager for Albert Lee Smith's U.S. Senate campaign, and Chairman of Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin's District 43 campaigns. In 2019, he ran for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination in Alabama's 2020 election, receiving 1% of the primary vote. Married to Kelly for over 37 years with three grown children, a grandson, and a granddaughter , he emphasizes family values, limited government, and low taxation.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Born in Montgomery, Alabama, to Arnold and Lillian Mooney, he graduated from Sidney Lanier High School, earned undergraduate and graduate degrees with highest honors in political science and history from Samford University , studied abroad at the University of Oxford as a Rotary Scholar from the Rotary Club of Birmingham, and pursued postgraduate study as a Scottish Rite Foundation Fellow at George Washington University's School of Government and Business Administration.
