Biography
Arlene Beckles is a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 96 in Gwinnett County, which includes the cities of Norcross and Duluth, plus nearby unincorporated areas. Originally from Barbados, she relocated to Norcross, Georgia, in 2003 after 18 years in New York. Her career spans finance, banking, media, entertainment, and healthcare; she works as a lead cybersecurity/information security project manager. Notable achievements include being the first Barbadian immigrant to serve on the Norcross City Council and the first Barbadian in the Georgia General Assembly. She is a founding member of the Transformational Emotional Intelligence Foundation, a board member of the CyberMinds Research Institute, and contributed to Georgia’s State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program. She is the mother of one daughter, Nyasia.
