District: Assembly District 20, New York State Assembly

Eric "Ari" Brown is a Republican member of the New York State Assembly representing District 20, which encompasses the towns and villages of Cedarhurst, East Rockaway, Hewlett, Woodmere, Inwood, Island Park, Lawrence, and Oceanside, along with the barrier island from Atlantic Beach to Point Lookout.

Brown was born on February 6, 1975, and has been a 30-year resident of Cedarhurst. He is the father of seven children and two grandchildren. He is currently the President of R. Brown Realty Corp, a design and build firm.

Political Experience

Brown was elected to the New York State Assembly in a special election on April 7, 2022. Prior to his election to the Assembly, he had extensive local government experience, having served for two decades on the Board of Trustees in the Incorporated Village of Cedarhurst. He also served on the village's zoning board and became the Chairman of the Board of Architectural Review in 2019. He currently holds the position of Cedarhurst Deputy Mayor.

Policy Priorities

As an Assemblyman, Brown focuses on combating lawlessness, hate crimes, and anti-Semitism. He opposes the "defund the police" movement and has positioned himself as a strong supporter of first responders and parental rights. Brown has also advocated for addressing spiraling taxes and has proposed reversing congestion pricing, which he believes disproportionately affects residents of his district who commute to New York City.
