Born and raised in Bridgeport, he is of Puerto Rican, Italian, Irish, and Dominican heritage, and is the first Dominican American elected to the Connecticut House. Notable achievements include being appointed the youngest Deputy Majority Leader in state history at age 24 in 2020, serving as Co-Chairman of the Appropriations subcommittee for early childhood and primary education, and holding positions on the Appropriations, Education, and Environment Committees. He is also Vice Chairman of the CT Black and Puerto Rican Caucus, advocating for equitable progress in public education, public health, and housing for Black and brown communities.

Education and Political Experience

Felipe began his service early, volunteering with the Annual Three Kings Day event, Connecticut Central Coast YMCA, and Bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders. At 18, he became the youngest field coordinator in the 2014 gubernatorial race, registering thousands of Bridgeport residents to vote. He transitioned into a community and political organizer role before entering state service, and is now proudly serving his fourth term.
