Biography
Anthony DeSimone is a Democratic representative for District 5 in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. A lifelong Providence resident, he succeeded his father, John DeSimone, a former Majority Leader in the same chamber. He currently serves as Deputy Majority Leader and is the Senior Compliance Officer in the Providence Economic Development Office.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduate of St. Raphael's Academy in Pawtucket; attended Rhode Island College.
- Political Experience: Elected in November 2022; re-elected through at least 2026. Serves on the House Corporations Committee, House Municipal Government and Housing Committee, and House Special Legislation Committee.
Notable achievements include sponsoring laws on veterans' tax exemptions , digital tax bills , life estate veteran exemptions , student loan interest deductions , sepsis treatment protocols , and RIPTA board leadership .
