Anna R. Kelles is a Democratic and Working Families Party member of the New York State Assembly representing District 125, which covers Tompkins County and southwest Cortland County, including the areas of Ithaca and Cortland plus 17 smaller towns and villages. A public health scientist and progressive advocate, she focuses on environmental sustainability, public health, affordable housing, criminal justice reform, and human rights. Notable achievements include sponsoring A01029B , granting conditional immunity to sex workers who report crimes; blocking a trash incinerator on Cayuga Lake; preserving Bell Station land; and raising awareness on cryptocurrency mining's environmental harms and fashion industry accountability.

• Education and Professional Background: Holds a Ph.D. in public health; taught sports nutrition at Ithaca College, directed the School of Applied Clinical Nutrition at New York Chiropractic College , managed the Center for Nutrition Advocacy and Green Resource Hub, served as full lecturer at Cornell University in Nutritional Sciences , and launched a private nutrition practice. Also chaired the Examination Development Council for the Board of Certification for Nutrition Specialists.
• Political Experience: Tompkins County Legislator , chairing Health and Human Services, Planning/Development/Environmental Quality, and Housing/Economic Development committees; championed affordable housing, immigrants' rights, alternatives to incarceration, tobacco restrictions, homelessness funding, rural broadband, child care, and environmental protections. Elected to NY State Assembly in 2020, re-elected in 2022, 2024, and launched bid for fourth term in 2026. Served on boards including Community Housing Development Fund, Downtown Ithaca Alliance, and Southern Tier 8.
