Biography
Ann Matlack
Ann Higgins Matlack is a Democratic politician from St. George, Maine, currently serving as a State Representative in Maine's House District 43. She has represented the communities of Cushing, Owls Head, South Thomaston, St. George, and Thomaston since her initial election in 2018. Matlack is now retired and has built a career of public service both within and outside the legislature.
Prior to her legislative work, Matlack served as assistant to the city manager of Rockland for seven years and held leadership positions on multiple local boards and committees, including two terms on the MSAD 50 School Board, 10 years on the St. George Budget Committee, and 10 years on the Knox County Budget Committee. She also served as board chair of Penquis, a nonprofit Community Action Agency providing services such as Head Start and the Home Energy Assistance Program across Knox, Penobscot, and Piscataquis counties.
Education
Matlack graduated from Kempsville High School in 1973. She earned a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Maine in 1977 and later obtained a *Master of Public Policy * from the University of Southern Maine's Muskie School.
Political Experience
Matlack was first elected to Maine House District 92 in 2018 and was reelected in 2020. Following redistricting, she was elected to House District 43 in 2022 and has served in the legislature across four consecutive sessions . She currently serves on the Government Oversight Committee, the State and Local Government Committee, and the Taxation Committee.
