Angus McKelvey (Senate District 0006)

Angus L.K. McKelvey is a Democratic State Senator representing District 6 in Hawaii, which includes West Maui, Mā‘alaea, Waikapū, and South Maui. Born on March 9, 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and hailing from Lahaina, he has served in the Hawaii State Legislature since 2006. He served 16 years in the State House before moving to the Senate in 2022, where he chairs the Government Operations Committee and serves on the Water and Land Committee. Notable achievements include advocating for Lahaina's rebuilding after losing his own home in the August 2023 fire that killed 102 people, sponsoring 137 bills in a recent session , and championing open government measures like HB 1597 and HB 1598 to strengthen Sunshine Law compliance.
