Biography
Angela "Angie" Nixon is a Democratic Florida State Representative for District 13 in Jacksonville. Born on February 27 in Jacksonville, she serves as a union organizer, higher education director for the Florida Public Service Union, and community advocate. She is married to Jarrett Morene, with two children: Natalie and Ashanti. Notable achievements include expanding childcare access, opposing grocery price gouging, resisting unfair voting maps, and leading Florida for All to register tens of thousands of voters. She co-owns Natalie's Nook & Candy Shop, providing healthy food options in a food-insecure neighborhood, and fights for affordable housing, strong public schools, fair wages, and quality healthcare. Current committee roles include Democratic Ranking Member of the Education Administration Subcommittee.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: BA in Political Science from the University of Florida .
- Political Experience: Elected to the Florida House in 2020 for District 14, redistricted to District 13 in 2022 where she won reelection. Previously served as Florida state field director for the Service Employees International Union and Executive Director of Florida for All. First job: lifeguard for the City of Jacksonville.
