Biography
Angelia Orr is a Republican representing Texas House District 13, which includes Hill, Bosque, Falls, Limestone, Freestone, Leon, and part of McLennan Counties. Born October 3, 1969, she is a small business owner, wife to Will Orr, and mother of two grown children, residing in Itasca, Texas, where her husband's family has farmed and ranched since 1872. First elected in 2022 and assuming office January 10, 2023, she succeeded Ben Leman and is committed to advocating for rural Texas. Notable achievements include carrying House Speaker priority bills like HB 24 and authoring HB 128 . She serves on the Appropriations, County Affairs, and House Administration Committees during the 88th Legislative Session.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a B.S. from Texas A&M University in 1992.
- Political Experience: Former substitute teacher and advocate for public schools; elected to Itasca School Board in 2007, serving two terms as secretary. Elected Hill County District Clerk in 2010, defeating a five-term incumbent. Encouraged by grassroots conservatives to run for the newly formed House District 13 after 2021 redistricting; currently in her second term as state representative.
