Biography
Angela Witwer is a Democratic state representative serving her fourth term for Michigan's 76th House District, which encompasses much of Eaton County, including the cities of Charlotte, Olivet, Potterville, and Eaton Rapids, as well as parts of Lansing and Grand Ledge, and several townships such as Delta Charter, Brookfield, Benton, Carmel, Chester, Eaton Rapids, Hamlin, Oneida Charter, Vermontville, Walton, and Windsor Charter. Born in Traverse City , Michigan, she has been a longtime resident of Delta Township for nearly 50 years. She is married to Bruce, with three children: JR Artibee, Danielle Lenz, and another child. A grandmother and daughter of Michigan farmers, Witwer is Catholic and has served seven years in the House as of recent records. Notable achievements include becoming the first Eaton County chair of the House Appropriations Committee, securing funding for water resources, firefighters, police, schools, senior and teen centers, writing and passing the repeal of the pension tax for financial protection of seniors, and receiving awards such as Entrepreneur of the Year, Michigan Top 50 Companies to Watch, INC magazine Top 500/5000 U.S. company, and the Athena Award for organizational excellence.
Education and Political Experience
Witwer holds a bachelor's degree in business administration, business, and marketing from Northwood University, and is an alumna of Waverly Community Schools. Her professional career began in clinical healthcare at Sparrow Health System for 22 years, starting in the burn unit, advancing to manager of pediatric rehabilitation, and later serving as manager of community relations and marketing. In 2007, she co-founded Edge Partnerships, a public relations, marketing, and advocacy firm that she still owns and operates. Prior to the House, she served as an elected vice president of the Waverly Community Schools Board of Education. In the Michigan House, she chairs the Appropriations Committee and has served on committees including Health Policy, Regulatory Reform, Rules, and the Select Committee on Protecting Michigan Employees and Small Businesses. She holds board appointments with organizations such as the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation, Volunteers of America, Hungry No More Board, Wharton Center Advisory Committee, Food Bank Council of Michigan, Capital Area Humane Society, Children's Trust Fund, Cristo Rey Community Center, and Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Economic Club.
