Biography

Andrew Stevenson Murr is a Republican attorney and rancher who represented Texas House District 53 from 2015 to 2025. An eighth-generation Texan raised on a ranch in Kimble County, he served as a steadfast conservative focused on rural issues like property tax relief and landowner protections. Notable achievements include chairing the House Corrections Committee , authoring bipartisan bail reform, serving as vice chair of Juvenile Justice & Family Issues, and leading the impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Ken Paxton. His maternal grandfather was Coke Stevenson, the 35th governor of Texas. Murr announced in 2023 he would not seek re-election.
