Andy Josephson

Andrew Lewis Josephson was born on July 15, 1964, in Anchorage, Alaska, where he has resided for his entire life. He is a lifelong Alaskan who has lived in multiple communities throughout the state, including Kalskag, Fairbanks, Kenai, and Juneau. Josephson is married to Donna and has built a career spanning education, law, and public service.

Education and Professional Background

Josephson earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Dickinson in 1997. Before entering the Alaska House of Representatives, he worked in various professional capacities:

• Legislative aide for the Alaska Legislature
• Public school teacher in the Kuspuk School District in Kalskag
• Superior court judicial law clerk in the 4th and 3rd Judicial Districts
• Assistant District Attorney in Kotzebue
• Associate Attorney in private practice

Political Experience

Josephson is a Democrat who was first elected to the Alaska House of Representatives in 2012. He currently represents District 13 and has served continuously since 2013. During his tenure, he has held several significant positions:

• Member, MOA Zoning Board of Examiners and Appeals and Planning & Zoning Commission
• Co-Chairman, House Resources Committee
• Member, House Finance Committee

He has been particularly active in advocating for public education and the University of Alaska system. A notable achievement includes his successful effort to protect the Higher Education Investment Fund from annual political battles over fund allocation.
