Andy Biggs (AZ-5)

Biography

Andy Biggs is a Republican U.S. Representative for Arizona's 5th congressional district, which includes parts of Mesa, Chandler, Queen Creek, and his hometown of Gilbert. Born on November 7, 1958, he has served in Congress since 2017 and previously held roles in the Arizona Legislature for 14 years, including as President of the Arizona Senate from 2013 to 2017. Notable positions include chairing the House Freedom Caucus from 2019 to 2022, and current roles on the House Judiciary and Oversight committees, as co-chair of the Border Security and War Powers Caucuses, and Chief Regulatory Reform Officer of the Western Caucus. He has announced his retirement from the House in 2026 to run for Governor of Arizona. Biggs lives in Gilbert with his wife Cindy, with whom he has six children and seven grandchildren.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Asian Studies from Brigham Young University; M.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University; J.D. from the University of Arizona. He is a retired attorney licensed in Arizona, Washington, and New Mexico.
• Political Experience: Arizona House of Representatives ; Arizona Senate ; U.S. House . He holds high conservative ratings, including 100% lifetime from Club for Growth, 98% from FreedomWorks, and 95% from Heritage Action.
