Biography
Andrew Mathews is a Republican member of the Minnesota Senate representing District 27 in east-central Minnesota, including communities in Anoka, Benton, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Sherburne, Wright, and Chisago counties. Elected in 2016, he previously served District 15 from 2017-2022 and has been in District 27 since 2023; re-elected in 2020 and 2022, he is in his third term. Notable positions include Ranking Minority Member of the Energy, Utilities, Environment, and Climate Committee, with additional service on Elections, Human Services, State and Local Government, and Ethics committees.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: J.D. from Oak Brook College of Law.
- Political Experience: Involved in public service from a young age, volunteering in local politics and serving as a page in the Minnesota State Legislature; first elected to the Senate in 2016.
