Biography
Andrew J. Lanza is a Republican/Conservative New York State Senator representing District 24 . Born on March 12, 1964, he has served since 2007, currently as Deputy Minority Leader. A former New York City Council member, prosecutor, accountant, and business owner, Lanza is married to Marcele with three children.
Notable achievements and positions include authoring zoning laws to combat overdevelopment and preserve Staten Island's suburban character; securing funding for schools, parks, playgrounds, and a new police precinct; leading efforts to reduce property taxes, including sponsoring tax relief and cap legislation; and holding leadership roles such as Minority Whip , Assistant Majority Whip , former Chair of Codes and Cities Committees, and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on New York City Education. He also co-chaired the Bipartisan Task Force on Hurricane Sandy Recovery.
