Biography
Andrew Jeremy Hysell is a Democratic politician, lawyer, and public policy consultant from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, representing Wisconsin's 48th Assembly District in the Wisconsin State Assembly since 2025. A resident of the Smiths Crossing neighborhood, he is a lifelong advocate for freedom, individual liberties, workers' interests, fair maps, and progressive policies. Notable achievements include advocating for children's health and education through the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, Save the Children's Campaign for Healthy Kids , and current board service with Reading Roadmap to close literacy gaps for low-income students. He has also supported Democratic candidates, including efforts to "Save the Veto" with Senator Agard and backing for Tony Evers.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: High School Diploma from Pius XI High School ; Bachelor's degree from Carroll University ; JD from Georgetown University .
- Political Experience: Began as an intern and legislative aide for Wisconsin Senate and Assembly Democrats ; organized phone banks for Democratic fundraising; policy analyst roles; former member and cofounder of American Constitution Society ; served on Netcentric Campaigns and Trauma Recovery Yoga boards. Elected to Wisconsin State Assembly District 48 in 2025.
