Andrew Clyde (GA-9)

Biography

Andrew Scott Clyde is a Republican U.S. Representative for Georgia's 9th congressional district, serving since January 2021. A combat veteran, small business owner, and gun store proprietor , he represents a rural and exurban area northeast of Atlanta, including Gainesville, Toccoa, Hartwell, and Dahlonega. Notable positions include service on the House Appropriations and Budget Committees; he voted against certifying the 2020 presidential election results from Arizona and Pennsylvania, opposed awards to Capitol police after January 6, 2021, and described the Capitol events as resembling a "normal tourist visit."

Education and Political Experience

• Education: B.B.A. from Bethel College ; attended University of Notre Dame; M.B.A. from University of Georgia .
• Military: U.S. Navy officer and Navy Reserve , with 28 years total service including three combat deployments to Kuwait and Iraq.
• Political Experience: Elected to the U.S. House in November 2020 for the 117th Congress and re-elected since ; first ran for GA-9 in 2020 and sued Athens over COVID-19 restrictions.
