Andrew K. Barkis is a Republican member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing Washington's 2nd Legislative District . The district covers parts of Thurston and Pierce Counties, including cities like Eatonville, Elbe, Ashford, Lacey, Yelm, and areas around Mount Rainier National Park, as well as Roy, Tahoma, and Bucoda following redistricting. He was appointed in February 2016 to succeed Republican Graham Hunt and is currently serving his fifth term. Notable achievements include serving as ranking minority member on the Community Development, Housing & Tribal Affairs Committee and the Legislative Committee on Economic Development & International Relations; he also sits on the House Consumer Protection & Business Committee. Barkis led sponsorship of 2024 legislation allowing residential property owners to split lots into smaller parcels and prioritizes housing issues.
