Biography

Andrea Valderrama is a Democratic member of the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 47 . Appointed in March 2021 to fill a vacancy, she became the first Peruvian-American in the Oregon State Legislature and helped achieve a female majority in the House for the first time in state history. A first-generation Peruvian-American who grew up in poverty, she has lived in the district for nearly a decade and focuses on racial, economic, disability, and gender justice, advocating for affordable housing, education, healthcare, economic recovery, community safety, and climate resiliency. Notable achievements include serving as Deputy Majority Whip , Majority Whip , and roles on key committees such as Chair of the Joint Ways & Means Subcommittee on Human Services, Joint Committee on Ways and Means, Joint Addiction and Community Safety Response, House Committee on Rules, and House Committee on Education. She won re-election in 2022 and 2024.
