Andrea Katz
Andrea Katz is a Democratic member of the New Jersey General Assembly representing Legislative District 8, which encompasses portions of Atlantic and Burlington counties. She is a mother of three who resides in Chesterfield Township with her husband, Jonathan, and their children, Nathan, Charlotte, and Molly.
In 2023, Katz made history by becoming the first Democrat to win the 8th Legislative District in 50 years. During her first term in the General Assembly, she has established herself as a strong advocate for reproductive freedom, public education funding, and affordability initiatives across South Jersey. She has also worked to support the agricultural economy in the region.
Education and Early Experience
Katz studied fine arts at Bucks County Community College. Before her election to the state assembly, she served as a member of the Chesterfield Township school board and as a committeewoman. In these roles, she became known as a powerful voice for children with special needs, updates to the school funding formula, and increased behavioral and mental health services for children. She also worked to implement the Chesterfield Township Parks and Recreation Master Plan and served as a member of the Chesterfield Township Alliance Against Substance Abuse.
