Andre V. Johnson Jr. is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 34A in Harford County. Born on June 19, 1971, at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, he is a lifelong Harford County resident, married with five children and three grandchildren. He is the first African American to represent Harford County in the Maryland General Assembly and was elected to the House in November 2022, sworn in on January 11, 2023. Notable achievements include his prior service on the Harford County Council , where he managed county budgets and public programs, and his extensive public safety career as a U.S. Army veteran , Baltimore City Police Officer , Harford County Sheriff’s Deputy , and Special Investigator for Baltimore City Housing. He has also coached football and girls' basketball at Patterson Mill High School, mentoring youth on discipline and leadership. Johnson focuses on education, healthcare, transportation, criminal justice reform, and environmental sustainability.
