Senator Ana Maria Rodriguez

Ana Maria Rodriguez is a Republican state senator representing Florida's 40th Senate District, which encompasses Monroe County and part of Miami-Dade County. Born on May 23 in Miami, Florida, she was raised and educated in the Miami area, attending St. Theresa Catholic School and Our Lady of Lourdes Academy before pursuing higher education.

Rodriguez has built a career in public service and real estate advocacy. She currently serves as Vice President of Government Affairs with the Miami Association of Realtors, a position in which she advocates for policies that increase home ownership, improve housing affordability, and enhance community resilience to climate change.

Education

Rodriguez holds two degrees:

  • Bachelor of Science in Communications from Florida International University's School of Journalism and Mass Communications
  • Master of Science in Leadership from Nova Southeastern University's H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business , where she was named to the Dean's List

She is also a graduate of Leadership Florida Cornerstone XXXIV and Leadership Miami.

Political Experience

Rodriguez has served in various elected positions:

  • Doral City Council : Elected in 2010 for Seat 4 and re-elected in 2014. She served as Vice Mayor during her final year .
  • Florida House of Representatives : Represented District 105.
  • Florida State Senate : Elected to the Senate in November 2020 and currently serves in the 2024–2026 term.

As a state senator, Rodriguez chairs the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and serves on multiple committees including Appropriations , Education Postsecondary, Fiscal Policy, Governmental Oversight and Accountability, and Rules.

Her legislative priorities have included supporting record funding for public schools, advocating for school choice policies, strengthening the economy through low taxes and reduced regulations, and sponsoring legislation to make healthcare more affordable and prescription drugs more accessible.
