Amy Walen is a Democratic member of the Washington House of Representatives representing the 48th Legislative District in King County, which includes parts of Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, and all of Clyde Hill, Medina, Yarrow Point, and Hunts Point. Elected in 2018 with 73% of the vote, she currently serves as Chair of the Consumer Protection & Business Committee and is a member of the Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee and Finance Committee. Her priorities include affordable housing, tax reform, gun violence prevention, small business support, and consumer protection. Notable achievements as Mayor of Kirkland include revitalizing the Totem Lake Business District, mandating affordable housing in developments, enacting anti-discrimination ordinances for Section 8 housing, gun safety reforms, and environmental initiatives like the Cross Kirkland Corridor. She is a cancer survivor, legal guardian to her nephew, and co-owns Ford-Hyundai of Kirkland with her husband, Jim, employing 120 people.
