Amy Nielsen (House District 0085)

Amy Nielsen is a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing District 85, which includes North Liberty, Tiffin, Oxford, Swisher, Shueyville, Lone Tree, and rural areas west and south of Iowa City. Born in 1977 in Keokuk, she resides in North Liberty with her husband Jason and their three children . She serves her fifth term and previously represented District 77 . Nielsen is the current state director for the National Foundation for Women Legislators and was Assistant Democratic Leader from 2021-2024. Notable prior roles include mayor of North Liberty and involvement in community boards such as the North Liberty Community Pantry, Iowa City Blue Zones Project, and Iowa City Community School District committees. She launched her House campaign focused on school funding after initial reluctance.
