Biography
Representative Amen Brown
Amen R. Brown was born around 1987 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, currently representing the 10th District since 2023. Before redistricting, he represented the 190th District from 2021 to 2022.
Political Experience
Brown first entered electoral politics in June 2020, when he ran as a Democrat in the primary for the 190th District. He defeated incumbent G. Roni Green by a narrow margin of 600 votes, campaigning during the COVID-19 pandemic by distributing masks and hand sanitizer to constituents.
In November 2020, Brown was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives with an overwhelming 95% of the vote, defeating Republican candidate Wanda Logan. Following redistricting in 2021, he successfully ran for the 10th District seat in 2022, despite a legal challenge regarding incomplete financial disclosures that prompted a judge to criticize him for displaying "an ignorance and shocking lack of care of the law." Brown faced another similar candidacy challenge in 2024.
Notable Achievements
Brown has focused his work on community investment and constituent services. He has brought millions of dollars back to his district and has been an advocate for several key policy areas, including access to jobs, economic security, funding for public schools, public safety and violence prevention initiatives, and housing development. His office is located in Philadelphia's West Philadelphia area, serving constituents across parts of Philadelphia County.
