Political Experience

Kolodin has over a decade of experience practicing election law in Arizona. Early in his legal career in 2014, he litigated one of the first cases establishing that election-related metadata stored on central count computers constitutes public records.

He came to prominence for filing lawsuits to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Arizona. In subsequent election cycles, he has pursued additional legal challenges related to election administration, including cases against Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes regarding voter registration obligations.

In the 2022 election, Kolodin and Joseph Chaplik won a crowded primary, defeating former State Representative Darin Mitchell, and subsequently ran unopposed in the general election.

During his tenure in the legislature, Kolodin has focused on election reform and water policy. He negotiated and passed legislation addressing a water crisis affecting Arizona families. In 2024, he sponsored and passed a comprehensive 29-page election reform package that established legally binding rules for validating early voter identities, improved ballot chain of custody procedures, protected provisional ballot voters from disenfranchisement, and required public posting of election system audit logs.
