Alex Lee , a Democrat, represents California's 24th Assembly District, which includes Fremont, Newark, and Sunol in Alameda County, as well as Milpitas and parts of northern San Jose in Santa Clara County. Born on July 11, 1995, he was elected to the California State Assembly in 2020, becoming the youngest Asian American legislator and the first openly bisexual state legislator in California history. Notable achievements include being named “Legislator of the Year” in his first year by the Golden State Manufactured Home Owners League and California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, the 2022 "Legislator of the Year" by East Bay Young Democrats, and recognition as one of the nation's top "20 Under 40" officials by the Council of State Governments. He currently chairs the Committee on Human Services, the Legislative Progressive Caucus, and the Assembly Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee.
