About

Alec Joseph Ryncavage is a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 119th District since 2023. The district covers parts of Luzerne County, including Ashley Borough, Edwardsville Borough, Fairview Township, Hanover Township, and Plymouth Borough. A businessman and former Borough Councilman, he became the youngest member of the Pennsylvania House at age 21 and the youngest elected since 1976. Notable achievements include winning his council seat at age 18 in 2019 on a platform of fiscal conservatism and community revitalization, defeating Democrat Vito Malacari in 2022, and winning re-election in 2024 by a two-to-one margin against Megan Kocher. He describes himself as personally pro-life, supporting exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother, but opposes outright abortion bans.

Education and Political Experience

Limited public details are available on formal education. Ryncavage's political experience began in 2019 when he won election to the Plymouth Borough Council at age 18, the youngest ever. In 2022, he successfully ran for the Pennsylvania House 119th District, replacing retiring Rep. Gerald Mullery after winning the Republican primary and general election. He serves from offices in Nanticoke, Mountain Top, and Harrisburg.
