Alan Tinsley Powell is a Republican representative for Georgia House District 33, which includes Hart, Franklin, and part of Madison counties. Originally elected as a Democrat in 1991, he switched to the Republican Party in 2010 due to his conservative views and was re-elected to a seventeenth term unopposed in 2024. He is self-employed and serves as Chairman of the Regulated Industries Committee, with memberships on Appropriations, Governmental Affairs, Motor Vehicles, Public Safety and Homeland Security, Rules, and Transportation committees. Notable achievements include appointments to the Board of Homeland Security by Governor Nathan Deal in 2018, advocacy for Second Amendment rights, pro-life policies, and rural/elderly healthcare, plus awards such as Legislator of the Year from various organizations, recognition from the NRA, National FFA, Emory Center for Injury Prevention, Peace Officers Association of Georgia , and GeorgiaCarry .
