Al Landis is a Republican state senator representing Ohio's 31st Senate District, which includes all of Tuscarawas, Wayne, and Muskingum Counties, and parts of Stark and Guernsey Counties. Born on November 2, 1954, in Dover, Ohio, he is a native of Tuscarawas County. He worked for 33 years at Greer Steel Company in roles including Inside Sales Representative, District Representative, and Sales and Marketing Management, retiring in 2009. Landis is married to Debby, with two adult children and five grandchildren. He is a lifelong member of the NRA, a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau and Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce, and serves on Dover Chemical’s CAP team.
Notable achievements and positions: In the 136th General Assembly, he chairs the Addiction and Community Revitalization Committee, serves as vice chair of the Energy Committee, and sits on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Government Oversight and Reform, and Local Government committees. Previously, he chaired the Energy & Natural Resources Committee for four years and vice-chaired Armed Forces & Veteran’s Affairs for four years in the Ohio House.
