Representative Al Gentry

Al Gentry is a Democratic member of the Kentucky House of Representatives for District 46 , serving since 2017. Notable achievements include founding the North American One-Armed Golfer Association, induction into the EAGA Amputee Golf Hall-of-Fame in 2022, and securing millions in funding for district infrastructure, nonprofits, and economic development.

Born October 12, 1964, in Louisville, Kentucky, Al Gentry is a Catholic entrepreneur and real estate investor. He graduated from Bishop David High School in 1982 and worked as a Teamster while attending college. After earning a BS in Geology from the University of Louisville in 1988, he worked as a consulting field geologist for North American Exploration, Inc., in the western U.S. In 1997, he founded a real estate investment business focused on helping homeowners avoid foreclosure by acquiring, improving, and leasing properties while aiding credit recovery. Gentry is married to Rhonda with two children and resides at 8406 Cloverport Drive, Louisville. He holds committee roles including Ranking Minority Member of Licensing, Occupations, & Administrative Regulations; member of Economic Development & Workforce Investment; and various budget subcommittees and joint committees. He is also active in caucuses like the Louisville Metropolitan Caucus, Kentucky-Israel Caucus, and Kentucky Nonprofit Caucus. Previously a member of Teamsters Union 89 and Kentucky Colonels, he received recognition from the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Bliss for supporting wounded warriors.
