Biography
Alessandro "Al" Cutrona is a Republican politician and attorney serving as the State Senator for Ohio's 33rd District, encompassing Mahoning, Columbiana, and Carroll counties. He was appointed to the Ohio Senate on June 26, 2024, following the resignation of Michael Rulli, who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to his appointment to the Senate, Cutrona served two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 58th District from 2020 to 2024.
Born and raised in the Mahoning Valley, Cutrona graduated from Canfield High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from Youngstown State University, graduating cum laude. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he received a leadership scholarship. Professionally, Cutrona is a practicing attorney specializing in healthcare, business, and bankruptcy law. He has also served as the Chief Operating Officer for a large tri-county infectious disease medical practice covering Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties.

In the Senate, he has focused on supporting small businesses and economic development, aiming to reduce regulatory burdens and strengthen Ohio's economy.
Cutrona is also active in his community, celebrating both his Puerto Rican and Italian heritage. He is a member of St. Anthony’s of Padua/Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown, Ohio. A lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, he enjoys spending his spare time hunting and helping out on his family’s farm.
