Ajay Pittman

Ayshia K. M. Pittman was born on September 10, 1993, and is a Seminole-American politician who served as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives representing House District 99 as a member of the Democratic Party from 2018 to 2026. She is a sixth-generation Oklahoman and a proud seventh-generation Native American with dual citizenship in the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. She was the third Seminole to serve in the Oklahoma Legislature.

Pittman made history as the first millennial woman and first second-generation woman to represent House District 99, continuing a family legacy of public service established by her mother, former state senator Anastasia Pittman.

Throughout her tenure, she focused on delivering results through strong legislation, constituent services, and sustained investment in families, small businesses, and students. She became known as a champion for health equity, economic development, and social justice.

Education and Early Career

Pittman attended the University of Oklahoma as a Scholar in the President's Leadership Class and also attended Langston University. Her early career experience includes work in corrections at the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Department and as a Health & Wellness Coordinator for OU Physicians in Corporate Health.

Political Experience

Elected to her first term in 2018, Pittman was re-elected to four consecutive terms. In the 60th Legislature, the Speaker appointed her to the prestigious Joint State-Tribal Committee, where she played a vital role in fostering collaboration between tribal governments and the State of Oklahoma.

Her committee assignments reflected her diverse expertise and included service on the Tourism Committee, Agriculture Committee, Appropriations & Budget Subcommittee on Health, and the Oversight Committee on Energy & Natural Resources. She was also a member of several professional organizations including N.O.B.E.L. Women, the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, National Caucus of Native American State Legislators, and the National Federation of Women Legislators.
