Ada Álvarez Conde is a Senator from Puerto Rico representing the At-Large district as a member of the *Partido Popular Democrático *. Born on September 8, 1986, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she is the daughter of human rights activist Ada Conde and achieved election to the Senate on her third attempt, securing over 69,000 votes for an at-large seat after unsuccessful bids in 2016 and 2020 .

Education

Álvarez Conde holds a PhD in History of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean from CEAPRC, with a doctoral thesis on cultural policy and documentary heritage. She earned a Master's degree and Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications, specializing in Multimedia and Investigative Journalism, from Florida International University in Miami and the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, respectively. She has completed postgraduate studies in Gender and Women Studies , International Relations and Democracy , and Documentary Filmmaking .

Political Experience

Álvarez Conde serves as a Puerto Rico Senator in the PPD caucus, bringing expertise in public policy, particularly on dating and domestic violence prevention. She authored a key bill on dating violence, adopted as Law 89 of 2015, designating February as Dating Violence Prevention Month in Puerto Rico, and has delivered over 350 conferences across Puerto Rico, the US, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. Previously, she worked as Director of the Women’s Commission in the Puerto Rico Senate, proposing multiple bills, and held roles as Press Secretary, Multimedia Editor, Content Producer, freelance journalist, and adjunct professor. She has promoted women's roles in politics and the Hispanic vote in the US, participated in UNESCO's first Women and Media Conference in Thailand , and engaged in policy exchanges with Dominican Republic and Mexico governments.
