Abe Jones (House District 0038)

Abraham "Abe" Jones is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 38 since 2021. A lifelong North Carolina native, he was born in Wilson and raised in Raleigh on the campus of Saint Augustine’s University, where his father was an education professor; he attended Wake County Public Schools and became the first Black student council member at Enloe High School. Jones is a distinguished attorney and former judge with nearly 40 years of legal experience, including roles as a federal prosecutor, Assistant Attorney General, Administrative Law Judge, and Superior Court Judge . Notable achievements include his appointment to the Superior Court by Governor Jim Hunt, election to two terms , service on the Wake County Board of Commissioners , and teaching as an adjunct professor at UNC School of Law. In the House, he serves on committees such as Appropriations, Judiciary, and Justice and Public Safety, prioritizing criminal justice reform, public education funding, affordable housing, and economic equity for underserved communities.
