About
Abdelnasser Rashid is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing District 21 since 2023. This district covers parts of Chicago's southwest side and the west and southwest suburbs. He is the first Palestinian-American elected to the Illinois General Assembly and lives in Bridgeview with his wife and children. Rashid's legislative priorities include affordability, property tax relief, affordable housing, environmental justice, consumer protection, and responsible technology governance. Notable achievements include passing more than ten laws, co-chairing Illinois' AI Task Force , and receiving the 2025 Milestone Achievement Award from the Illinois Environmental Council for legislation phasing out cancer-linked forever chemicals from consumer products. He previously led efforts for automatic renewal of senior exemptions and introduced HB 1621 to curb political contributions from public utilities like ComEd.
