Aaron Kaufer
Aaron D. Kaufer was born on July 11, 1988, in Kingston, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. He is a former Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, having served the 120th district from 2015 to 2024. In 2024, Kaufer announced he would not seek reelection.
Education
Kaufer graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School in 2007 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Law with a focus on International Affairs from Lafayette College in 2011.
Political Experience
Kaufer was first elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2014 and was reelected to four consecutive terms. During his tenure, he held several prominent positions:
- Deputy Chairman of the State House Majority Policy Committee
- Republican Chair of the House Government Oversight Committee
- Appointed member of the Higher Education Funding Commission
- Appointed member of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency board
Kaufer co-founded the PA HOPE Caucus to address drug and alcohol services in Pennsylvania. The first legislation he proposed addressed welfare reform, specifically barring individuals from accepting welfare benefits from multiple states. He has advocated for reforming what he describes as Pennsylvania's "bloated welfare system."
After leaving office, Kaufer joined the law firm Fellerman & Ciarimboli, PC as part of their Scranton legal team.
