Wm. Weston Newton is a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Previously, he served in the State Senate and was also a transportation engineer. Newton was Chairman of the Majority Caucus and Deputy Leader in the Senate and serves on several committees including Labor, Commerce and Industry in the House. He sponsored legislation relating to education, taxes, transportation and business. Newton earned his civil engineering degree from Clemson University. Prior to joining the legislature, he worked for the SCDOT. Newton has been active with several community and professional organizations.read less
