Val Hoyle grew up on a farm in Oregon. After attending Oregon State University, she started a small business manufacturing customizable canvas tote bags. In 2009, Hoyle successfully ran to represent District 14 in the Oregon House of Representatives. She focused on consumer protection, small business growth, and environmental issues. In 2014, Hoyle was appointed Oregon's Labor Commissioner. She worked to raise the minimum wage and improve workplace policies.read less
