Peter Michael Sturla was born on June 3, 1959 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He earned his B.A. Degree in history and political science at Millersville University in 1981. He worked as a pizza shop owner and operator from 1981 to 1998. He was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1998 and has served continuously since then.
